We finally had an excuse to return to Jimmy's last night with family in town. We wanted a nice dinner out and knew that this place would deliver! There was live music in the next room - it provided that perfect background without being too loud for conversation. Our server was attentive, friendly and talkative. My husband really enjoys the Nachos as an appetizer. We all had the beef tenderloin, which was delicious! And the bacon gnocchi that it came with absolutely blew my mind!! For dessert, we had the apple pie, the turtle brownie (give it a minute to cool off! It comes out piping hot!!) and the Raspberry Chocolate Croissant Pudding. Their pudding is different from many others that I've had, but very delicious in it's own way. It's a lot lighter, both in texture and sweetness. It's certainly not weighed down by a thick and overly sweet sauce. It's also different to have the tang of the raspberry in there! I look forward to trying their lunch or Happy Hour some time soon!

Clayton restaurant week--check! And Jimmy's, you are A-OK! 1. tuna tartare nachos - weak on flavor, but fish was ok. came with standard grocery story tortilla chips--which took away from the plating and flavor 2. While I was a little nervous about the blue cheese sauce, it came out quite mild! The steak was cooked properly and very tender :) 3. croissant bread pudding - sooooo rich and chocolately, needed a scoop of ice cream! Overall a solid dinner, though nothing extraordinary. Service was slow: 1. even though they were busy for restaurant week...they weren't THAT busy 2. I found a misc hair in my food, and I didnt want to make a big fuss about it (and ate my food), so I didn't...but the waitress didn't seem too concerned when I told her......suspect? not sure.......not really an apology or anything....weird....oh well?

Was excited to come here since it seems to be a StL staple but I had also been warned that it's not as great as it used to be. Came here in a large group for restaurant week, where it's $25 per person for 3 courses. Lemme just preface this by saying, I don't like when multiple items on the menu are +$5-6 when it's a prix fixe menu. Not sure why salmon needs an extra $6? Anyway, the service was very slow but luckily the company was great. I found the cocktails a bit too strong for my taste, and not very well-made. I started off with the tuna tartare nachos which were pretty good, although they only gave us 4 nachos per plate. I felt like it was enough but all the guys thought it was pretty ridiculous. I opted for the steak salad which was all right. Definitely something I could have put together myself (I actually took home the leftovers and improved on it with some fancy oils and vinegars). It was basic lettuce, some cherry tomatoes, some carrots, and steak on top. The steak was definitely the best part. The beef tenderloin was pretty good but not an extra charge kinda good. My friend got the Amish chicken and if you like mushrooms in any capacity, this is the dish for you! It had the best flavor, for sure. My friend found a hair in her food and pointed it out to her waitress and she actual reaction was "hm, yeah" and walked away. No apology, and no discount or replacement. The creme brulee was pretty fantastic, as was the bread pudding, though. The creme brulee was light and super creamy. The bread pudding was dense but flavorful. The meal wasn't terrible by any means, it just was a bit mediocre. I would be hesitant to be back but I'm glad I tried it. It was also one of the rare times I took not a single photo partly because it didn't look all that special and partly because the service was so slow and I was so hungry by the time it got there, we scarfed it all down.

Most excellent service from my girl Adele. Didn't like the cocktail I ordered & she made it all better by conferencing with the bartender to create a new concoction just for me. Fathers Day brunch was a big success.

Food and atmosphere good but service can use a little improvement. They offer Groupons all the time but be prepared that the waiting staff are not very happy about it. (Almost to the point of rude) Make sure you have it printed out and ready to show because they don't have a scanner to except it right from your phone.

I have been to Jimmy's more times than my actual check-in shows and have always had a wonderful experience with both the food and the service. Tonight, I chose Jimmy's as a restaurant to visit during Clayton's Restaurant Week: 1) because it is a familiar area (I used to live in the neighborhood and frequented this place), 2) they had more main dish options in their 3-course menu; 3) they featured one of my favorite desserts in their 3-course menu and 4) I really just like coming here. It started off being nice. We didn't make any reservations but it was nice enough of the guy at the front to give us a table especially on a busy Thursday evening and for that, I am always thankful. Then it started going downhill from there. Glasses of water were brought to the table and the waitress did not come for a few minutes or so which was fine. She then came and took the drink orders (I had a glass of Cardiff cabernet) and came back with them several minutes later. Mind you, she never introduced herself or attempted any sort of pleasantries. The menu specifically stated "sundried tomato bisque or soup du jour" but when asked what other soup they had, all she said was "tomato bisque." Fine. Tomato bisque it is. I ordered a ceasar salad to start then the roasted amish chicken for my main entree and a chocolate pate for dessert. While having our meal, another table was seated next to us. They ordered their drinks and another waitress explained what the deal is with Restaurant Week menu. Then I overheard her say you could skip the appetizer or salad and get 2 desserts and explained what other soups they had. That was when I started thinking... Oh my god! Are you kidding me?! I am easy to please when I go to restaurants and I will never send food back to the kitchen unless it's raw chicken or pork but I expect to be respected as a patron to an establishment no matter how lousy a day you might be having. I work for a living, too but I am always curteous if and when I need to deal with people. I felt like my waitress did just the opposite of that. To top it all off, when the check came out, she was very presumptuous and did not return with the change! We waited for a good 30 minutes sitting there but she never came back. She brought over some orders at a table nearby and kind of looked at our table but did not come back with the change. She gave herself slightly over 20% tip she did not deserve! I feel quite upset about this but I didn't want to have a worse night than I am already having thanks to her so we just left. The food was good as it has always been but I can't be enthusiastic about this place as much as I used to be. We feel completely cheated because she did not deserve that much tip and for her to be so presumptuous is just wrong in every way.

Pedestrian food at moderately expensive prices. You can do way better elsewhere.

Great location and atmosphere. Food is always good, could use a little updated menu. Staff has always been attentive and well trained. A very professional, well managed restaurant .

Jimmy's on the Park is situated on a quaint little lane with a nice view of the Concordia Seminary grounds across the street. The outdoor seating is recommended even though it's getting colder each day - they provide heaters that make it comfortable. The inside is softly lit, with nicely set tables for a fancy dinner. However, there is also a relaxed bar by the door that doesn't give off neon-lights-in-your-face vibe, but more of a laid back classy atmosphere. A number of patrons were enjoying it throughout the night. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad and the Ravenswood Red Zin. The caesar salad had just the right amount of caesar dressing on it and included baby tomatoes, which was a welcome surprise. However, I'm convinced that one of them was spoiled, as it had an extremely mushy and sour taste on the inside. The chicken was a little dry but other than those two items, I have nothing to complain about. Would love to go back and try another dish, as they have a lot of pasta and seafood options. The wine was delicious. It had just the right proportion of fruit taste to earthiness. I'm slowly working my way away from the fruity sweet rieslings and moscatos to the more earthy cabernets, trying to expand my palate, so this was a great way to push out a little further. I will definitely come back for more. The service was excellent. The waiter was prompt in getting our drinks, telling us when happy hour ended, taking our orders (and delivering them correctly), and on top of it all, she didn't rush us when we were finished eating and just wanted to sit, chat, and have a couple more drinks. It probably helped that it was a little slow (Monday night) but either way, I didn't feel rushed when I was having a relaxing evening, and it ended up being a great night out.

Yum! I just ate here for Clayton Restaurant Week and I was very pleased with my dining experience overall. Once seated, we were provided with both the restaurant week menu and the full menu, which I liked. Their regular menu looked awesome, there was plenty on there I wanted to try. We all ordered a great glass of wine and our server was friendly, attentive and helpful even though we were all there ordering off the restaurant week menu, not the regular menu. Additionally, I appreciated that we were not rushed through our meal despite a packed house; a true sign of quality service!! The ambiance of the restaurant was so fun too! There were caricatures covering the walls it was so neat! Classy without being fancy, it would be a great spot for a weeknight meal or a special night out. Our food was fantastic. We were served a bread basket with two types of soft, fresh bread with a lovely crunchy and chewy crust, perfect for dipping in the olive oil provided on the table! First course I ordered a perfectly portioned and dressed house salad. For my main I got the half roasted chicken with mushroom risotto and roasted broccoli. Sounds boring, but it was absolutely amazing! Flavorful, moist and a generous portion! I was excited to have some left for a second meal. For dessert I ordered the croissant bread pudding. Rich and delicious, I couldn't finish the generous portion! Others ordered the flash fried spinach, steak salad, southwest shrimp appetizer and tuna nicoise salad. Both got the chocolate pate for dessert. Not a single complaint from any in our party, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu! I will certainly be back, although their regular menu appeared a bit pricey for me for a normal night out. Probably the next special occasion I want to celebrate will be at Jimmy's!

My wife and I stopped in for dinner Saturday night. We are still fans because two of the three dishes we had were absolutely deliscious. I'm talking about the flash-fried spinach and the chicken linquini. They were both really good. BUT. I just had to update my review so I can comment on their spinach salad. I haven't found a dish this awful in years. It looked wonderful, but the pancetta vinagrette dressing was not what it seemed. you might think it would be a kind of bacon-flavored vinegary dressing. Yes? No. The taste to me was as if someone cooked the bacon, threw it aside, then poured the cooled grease on the spinach. Or imagine letting bacon grease cool, then dipping your spinach in it one leaf at a time. Okay, so why not bring the review down more? Well, I think my judgment of this salad is a matter of personal taste. I really hate the taste and unctiousness of fat. I asked the waitress if people really liked this dish, she said "They LOVE it." Okay, I believe it. I don't get it , but I belive it. This one is not for me, though, and if you don't think you'd emjoy a spoonfuld of lukewarm bacon grease, you might want to stay away. Do go to the restaurant, though. Everything else we've had here has been great. Service was also excellent.

Lovely evening! Boyfriend and I ate here for our first date more than a year ago, and went back today to reminisce. Bought a livingsocial, and upon seeing the reviews here was a little timid about using it. Shouldn't have worried though; had absolutely wonderful service including great description of the specials, refilling of our bread basket and drinks, the food was really great considering the price (tenderloin and pork chop). Also, after mentioning that we had our first date here, they even brought us a complimentary dessert (after we had already eaten their delectable bread pudding)! A really delightful evening, and our waiter was nothing but courteous and attentive. Looking forward to heading back! Boyfriend only has one complaint: "we ate too much!" :)

I absolutely love coming to this place for happy hour. They have about 10 cocktails to choose from for $5 a piece every Monday through Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30. I love sitting on their couch by the fireplace and enjoying a creamy chocolate martini. I've also enjoyed their espresso and pineapple martinis. They also have half-price appetizers during happy hour. Their spinach artichoke dip is really delicious, as is their buffalo chicken pizza. If you're not a happy hour person, they quite frequently offer Groupons. The last time I was there I felt we were well attended to. In sum, good service, nice ambiance, and a great happy hour for people who love martinis.

My gf and I love this place. Nice atmosphere and they just got a 65-inch curved tv in their main room. Because I have to watch the blues/cardinals when they are on, it's nice they have another tv (and of course I wish they would add more)...

This review absolutely required an update. I recently just hosted my rehearsal dinner for my wedding here, so let's start there that I obviously trust and love this restaurant enough to have a very important dinner there. Next my original review was from back in 2010 and since I've probably been to Jimmy's at least 15 times, taking family and friends because it's a lock down, go to, classy space where the food is ALWAYS awesome and the only thing better is the service. I've eaten just about everything on the menu and there isn't one thing I wouldn't order again. As a confession in my previous review I suggested the salmon was over cooked and I only gave Jimmy's 3 stars. Well salmon was on the menu at my rehearsal dinner and someone found my review from 2010 and called me out on it. 15 people at my dinner ordered the salmon and all of them said it was amazing (and perfectly cooked). You really only need one sentence to describe Jimmy's. Eclectic tasteful menu with food prepared to perfection in an intimate setting coupled with top notch service starting at the top with Jimmy himself.

My husband and I went on our very first date here, so every year we would go back on our anniversary. I think it was around year 4 or 5 that we quit going because we had some really blah service. We decided to give it another whirl (after an absence of 5 years) for Valentine's Day-eve. I'm glad we came back! This experience was pretty much the opposite of our last one. Our waiter was very attentive and talkative, and the food was delicious (the food was always delicious...that's not why we quit going for awhile). I had the salmon special for my meal, and even though I had it over a month ago, I still get cravings for it! Now I think we need to come back for brunch sometime!

Being a friend/fan of Jimmy's on the Park, I received a pleasant surprise in my e-mail this week. Jimmy sent me a coupon for $10 off a birthday celebration and I took advantage of it this morning enjoying brunch. Brunch is not complete without a Bloody Mary, it is a kick-start to the feast. Jimmy may serve his in a short rocks glass, but it is totally big on flavor. The rim is salted, with a small area not rimmed for sipping. I enjoy spinach, bacon and goat cheese. So when I saw all three combined in an omelet, I had to have it. The omelet was big, fluffy, stuffed and served with a slice of bacon on top. The SO had the Tenderloin Benedict which was flavorful, but skimpy on the Tenderloin. Both were served with breakfast potatoes and and fruit cup. The potatoes were crispy little cubes with grilled onions, but the fruit missed the mark. I love honeydew melon, but theirs was long over due causing the cup to be a disappointment. Timing was a little off today, which is the reason I have removed a star from my original rating. I will not go as far as to say they were rushing us on purpose, but that is how I felt. The service was great, but seemed to have misunderstood that we wanted to enjoy the Salmon, Cream Cheese and Toasted Bagel before our entrees. We barely had them assembled and our main dishes were being delivered to the table. So poor timing and mushy honeydew lost them a star. Being a birthday boy, the delivered a celebration treat with a sparkler letting everyone around know it was my special day. Thank God, there was no singing and clapping.

Valentine's Day - Food was absolutely awesome. I had the salmon and my husband had the tenderloin. Everything was perfect. Waiter seemed stretched with too many tables and was not as attentive as one would expect. The downside of our experience was that we were seated on the Bistro side up against the half wall to the bar. You're SO close to your neighbors that I had to turn sideways (and I'm fairly thin) to get between the tables and in/out. C'mon Jimmy's - lose a table so your guests are more comfortable and more intimate.

It wasn't so much the food but the absolutely WEIRD service. Besides the usual less than friendly but non offensive nature that I know as Jimmy's, our server on Saturday April 26, 2014 was simply rude. She obviously did not want our business. She wouldn't tell us the beer on tap, but just handed us the menu. When asked if she knew the beers she simply said, "yes." Didn't tell us. And that was the most she spoke all night. She was friendly to her other tables. It was extremely odd. Took about 30 minutes to get the check. Basically every interaction between trying to order a beer and getting the check was awkward. Not a fun evening. After eating we happily went to Sasha's and had great service. We will stick to Sasha's when in the Demon area from now on. Jimmy, your restaurant was half empty at 7:30 on Saturday night. Hmmmmm... If you are wondering who we are, we were the 5 top that arrived around 6:30. The only 5 top there! Not impressed. If I want someone to be mean to me I can fight with my husband for free! 2 thumbs down.
(2)Leo S.
Yet another place we wouldn't have visited had it not been for a groupon or other discount. I'm torn on this rating since the dish I ordered was very good - the grilled pork loin. It might have been a bit small portion size, but the flavor was worth it. The bad for this restaurant - the chicken ceaser salad my girlfriend got was absolutely terrible. I can't believe they served chicken that dry. It seemed like they overcooked it a week ago and left it in the fridge for several days uncovered just to dry it out more. If they had said the salad came with chicken croutons I would have thought it was a neat creation but passed without a thought.

I came here for the rehersal dinner for my sister's wedding and man was I sure glad they picked this place! Having never been before, I chose the Filet Mignon for my entree and it was a great choice -- other entree options included a Vegetarian Lasagna, Peppered Plank Salmon and Grilled Roast Pork Loin. Everything was unexpectedly delicious and seemed plates seemed to have been executed consistently through out the entire party. Although the "room" (a space of the restaurant divided by a heavy curtan) we were in seemed a little cramped for the staff to move around, the guests seemed to be plenty comfortable once seated at the tables. I would love to come back and try more of their menu and would recommend it for other private parties!

I think I found out what service is like at Jimmy's when you're two women dining, not drinking and using a LivingSocial coupon -- thanks to Nicholas. Or maybe that's how he is with all patrons. We got great food. We were not well-attended at any time during the course of our two-hour dinner in the bar area. That's where we were seated. And we had a reservation. The bread basket wasn't refilled and the only reason we had water refills was there was a bottle of water on the table. And he never came by to see how the food was. Nicholas made it clear that we could not order any appetizers during Happy Hour that would count on the coupon. That's different from how it worked last time I was here with a coupon. So, does each server get to make their own rules for these coupons? My dining partner got the Grilled Roast Pork Loin ($18.95) -- With sage-roasted fingerling potatoes, sautéed napa cabbage and bok choy, pancetta bacon vinaigrette, pickled beets and horseradish creme fraiche I got the Roasted Chicken Fettuccine ($18.50) -- Pan-roasted squash and zucchini, bacon, artichoke, pulled roasted chicken, roasted bell pepper cream sauce and parm After we ordered entrees, Nicholas said we could now order Happy Hour appetizers, since we ordered entrees. Well, thanks for that. I think that timing was waaay off! The chicken fettuccine was fabulous. Huge pieces of juicy and tasty chicken, an abundance of vegetables and not a pound-ton of fettuccine. Great proportions. It would have been a bit better if the chicken and the artichoke hearts were cut up more in proportion with the other vegetables, so you could get some of everything in one forkful. For dessert, we shared the Granola Apple Crisp ($7) -- Oatmeal granola crust, sliced apple and streusel topping, served warm, topped with cinnamon ice cream with candied walnuts and caramel sauce My dining partner asked for a separate plate, so we weren't double-dipping. They brought out one plate and one spoon for her. I got nothing. Somehow the concept was lost. I had to use the HUGE serving spoon to eat my dessert. This was really good. Rather deconstructed on the plate -- a little of this here, a little of that there. Very attractive. When it came time for to-go vessels, my dining partner wanted to put her own food in her container. So, she asked for him to bring out the containers, instead of boxing it in the kitchen. He absolutely did not want to do that. And it took a bit of talking to accomplish this simple request. I don't understand why that was so challenging. We both had hefty to-go vessels, once they were brought out for us.
(2)Charles R.
Cozy upscale atmosphere without being pretentious. Received excellent service by our server, Mary. Food was outstanding, portions were perfect. There was a delay in receiving our entrees, but this was because there was a group of 36 who put in their order just before us, so that was not their fault. The kitchen can only do so much. Still, they were proactive and let us know the situation and offered us a free glass of wine due to the delay. This was our first time, we will definitely be back.
(5)Steven N.
We had the southwest shrimp for appetizer. Taste was OK. For a southwest dish I would've expected something more bold. This was well cooked with a nice smokey flavor but the taste was a bit too subtle for my taste. Presentation was nice and the rest of the dish was cooked appropriately but this dish did not have much kick to it. I had the seafood of the day which was a golden tilefish on spinach with a fish-based sauce. Again the food was cooked ok but the tastes did not mesh. The fish itself was moist and not overcooked. The spinach also was well cooked. However, the flavor between the golden tilefish and the spinach did not complement each other. They sort of existed separate from each other. Separately they tasted ok. Interesting flavors but nothing to write home about. I also got a taste of the steak salad. The steak salad was good. The steak, cooked rare, was very moist with a thin crust and a nice smokey flavor to it. I don't know if the steak would stand on its own but that's why it's in a salad! The salad was also odd in that it was not a traditional salad where everything was mixed together but there were full asparagus spears along with lettuce and potatoes. I'm not used to that mix and so that was different. I went there on a living social deal but I have to say that if I didn't have the living social deal then it would not have been worth the price I paid for dinner. Food is decent but a bit overpriced.

I went here with my boyfriend with a groupon. We asked to be seated in the bistro area because there is a separate, smaller, lower-priced menu called the "Bistro- Patio" menu and it has burgers and pizza. You get to order from that OR from the dinner menu. If you are seated in the main section you only get the larger menu. This place is not cheap but they have some incredible-sounding dishes with interesting flavors. I ordered the salmon steak burger off the bistro menu and my bf ordered a salmon special they were having that day. We both loved our entrees HOWEVER, I think the salmon was just some frozen steaks and not a special freshly prepared dish- even his special seemed a little too perfectly square, like it was a frozen patty. I don't think his was worth the price only because I doubt the freshness of the salmon. Flavor and quality were fine, but like I said - probably frozen patties. The flavors in his dish - the sauces and sides, were incredible but they use a lot of butter. My burger came with homemade chips which were great, but some were a little soggy. As for the atmosphere - it was decently low-key, not fancy, not too trendy, a little mixed-up with some interesting art work and the standard urban-revamped industrial attempt to look sleek. The crowd was probably a little older than 20s-30s-aged people. The waitstaff was great though, really took care of us. It's not quite my type of place to go back, even for a special occasion, but I think my parents would like it.
(3)Vik S.
Don't think Jimmy's is just a fancy place. It's also a great place for some cheaper fare and one of my favorites for take-out (open everyday until 9 or later). Their burger is probably my favorite in the city, meat is ground in-house from steak. It's huge and delicious, cooked to your preference. it comes w/ homemade chips, but I always substitute with a vegetable side (no charge!). The green beans are off the hook. And all this goodness for just 8 bucks! That's cheaper than Applebees. It's ridiculous. Yesterday I switched it up with the salmon club. I wasn't expecting much, but it was really good and deeply satisfying. A nice big piece of salmon cooked to perfection on a lightly toasted kaiser bun with steamed spinach. They even included remolaude w/ capers to spread on it, which took it to the next level. Came w/ a side of asparagus. 9 bucks well spent. The pesto chicken pizza ($12) is also awesome. It's got pine nuts and bacon and the crust is thin n crisp. Check out the bar menu on the bottom of this page jimmyscafe.com/menu_dinn… for more. The woman answering the phone is always especially friendly. Get a Jimmy's burger to go sometime, you won't regret it. Oh, don't forget to leave a little tip for the takeout.

One of our favorite restaurants in STL! The atmosphere is very class and romantic. We usually come here for special occasions, like birthdays and stuff. For a healthier option, the Veggie Plate is really good, and the Tuna Entree Salad is huge! My favorite part is dessert.... love, love their bread pudding!

Host & hostess were not welcoming upon arrival, looked like they were put out. Even though we were dining quite early, and there were no other diners, they resisted seating us at a requested table "in case" they got hit with a happy hour rush. HA. (so off the mark). This is not the exception to the rule at this establishment. Unfriendly staff for sure. I ordered the entree, Porcini Polenta Chicken. This is no joke: I had to ask a passing waitress (because our waiter was MIA most of the time) what was on my plate, because I had forgotten what I had ordered, and it was UNRECOGNIZABLE. Blech. The waitress actually giggled, told me the name of the dish, and then said, "yeah......we get that a lot ". Our waiter didn't bother to come around to check after we began our meal, but when he retrieved our plates, he didn't inquire why I barely touched my food (I ate maybe a quarter of my plate). My husband ordered a burger and a beer. His burger was the appropriate temp, but bland, void of flavor. Really? They have 1/2 price apps during happy hour, and it was a ghost town, yet their competitors next door were thriving. Now we know why.

I met some friends here before going elsewhere for the evening. It was a gorgeous night for it. I got the tomato bisque soup which was quite good. I then ordered the Bayou Shrimp. It is tasty but not really $24 tasty. I felt like it was short on shrimp and quantity for that price. Service was medium level. She was nice but not overly attentive. There was someone refilling water regularly which was nice. I probably will not be back for that pricing. Many other places with better food, better pricing AND better parking.

Jimmy's is a good restaurant. I have been several times and the food is always great. It's a little pricey, but the quality is great. My only complaint with Jimmy's is the inconsistent service. I have been sometimes and had great service. Other times I have been and I have waited 15 minutes for a server to even come to my table after I was seated. I have also had servers who seemed completely disinterested in being there. Great food with sporadic service. Atmosphere is good. I would recommend the bistro/bar area for seating because it's near the entrance to the restaurant and they have live music periodically. Good for people watching.
(3)Pamela R.
My first time at Jimmy's on the Park was more than I could have hoped for. It wasn't very busy on a dreary Saturday afternoon around 12:30pm so we got rock star attention from the server. I was celebrating an accomplishment that day and the manager sent me over dessert as a nice gesture. I love that. Jimmy's has some darn good Bloody Mary's and my group also had champagne as part of the celebration. We each ordered sandwiches that were pretty tasty. I had a nice chicken sandwich which can tend to be dry but this one was done to perfection. I would definitely wander back to Jimmy's especially in the warmer months to hear live music and sit outside.

Hum, for some reason, each time we've gone to Jimmy's it was pouring cats and dogs!!! Never the less, I have been here with BF and let me tell you, I enjoyed everything from service to food to "the check". Wasn't too outrageously expensive and the bottled tea was good. The atmosphere was nice and we even had a window seat. Each time we went for lunch and I really enjoyed their flash fried spinach, which Vince can't stand only because he doesn't like veggies. However, it was AWESOME and the smoke turkey melt was just as awesome and it filled me up. Everything was good, even the conversation from our sever. However, parking sucks and depending on your timing (after lunch and before dinner) you may have to driving around and make u-turns in order to find a spot. I will definitely visit more often!

Have been back several times since my previous review. Had dinner there on Saturday night, first time for my husband to go there. We had dinner entrees, and they were more satisfying that what I had ordered in the past. He got the Bayou Shrimp, with 5 large shrimp and a very thin crawfish etouffe sauce, and a hunk of savory bread pudding, over spinich. Beautifully presented. I had the chicken coatted and rolled with polenta and served with a porcini mushroom gravy, over cubed potatoes, with roasted asparagus. Also beautifully presented. Husband loved the shrimp, which was very spicy (maybe too spicy for me). He also liked the spinach and the bread pudding. I did not care for the taste of the polenta as a crust, however, and it was also rolled inside it, I think mixed with the mushrooms there. But that may have been my own taste buds, or maybe it was not a good creation. The chicken was moist and tender, and the potatoes were satisfying. Too much dinner for me to finish. Nonetheless, we ordered dessert. I couldn't resist the sound of the ho-made ice cream--banana, walnut, chocolate hunk. Very delicious. My husband got the apple strudel with ice cream, and he enjoyed it as well. By the way, our bread was very fresh and delicious. I saw women dining (without men), and they seemed to be having a very good time, so may "Nicholas" (see patt C. 5/7/2013) was working that night. All the staff were so very nice, they had been trained to smile and be polite as is allowable by the law to the guests. I will say, Jimmy's was NOT doing a full business--the Oyster Bar and something else up the street seemed to be overflowing. Next time, I am going to be asked to be seated in the dining room, not the bistro (bar area). I also did not like our teeny tiny table for two, which was too crowded, and we had to have the waitress take stuff away and stash some on the table next to us. We will be returning there for my birthday celebration next month.

Jimmy's on the park # of Visits: 2 Food: 7/10 Drink: 6/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Price: 5/10 Service: 8/10 Eat This: Wilted Spinach Salad with Grilled Salmon Drink This: Espresso Martini $5 happy hour drinks. Recommend walking down to DeMun Oyster Bar for better drinks, though. Good brunch spot. Overrated. Go to Sasha's or DeMun or Katie's. All within walking distance.

Romantic and sleek atmosphere. I love the fireplaces throughout the restaurant. The food is good but I wouldn't rave about it. I had the pear salad which seemed to be lacking pears and the risotto which was a lot sweeter than I expected. You can expect to spend around $100 for dinner for two and it's worth it for the atmosphere but don't expect to be blown away by their dishes.

I was supposed to meet up with my friend at Kaldis as I did laundry, but I miscalculated I the amount of laundry I had accumulated and the fact that it was rush hour, so the driving took quite a while... So it was around 5:45, got to Kaldi's and said to my friend, "You hungry? Let's go happy hour." With no push back we walked next door to Jimmy's on the Park. I've been here a couple of times, but it really has been a while. Instead of taking advantage of the $5 martinis since we were still hungover from last night, we just ordered food. We ordered the calamari, flash fried spinach, chicken pizza and spinach artichoke dip. (for a total of 18 and change before tip of course.) Friend - "I kinda want to order this Bruschetta too." Kent - "Hold off on it, be the judge when the food comes out." Food comes out... Kent - "Aren't you glad I stopped you from ordering the bruschetta?" Service was phenomenal and the Cards & Giants game was on, pretty sweet game. Anyways... Pizza - Solid as usual. Calamari - Wish you would give me a different dipping sauce. Flash fried spinach - egh... Not really a fan. Spinach artichoke dip - Well it definitely has the ability to make you choke. has just huge chunks. It wasn't much of a dip but more like a salad with grilled pitas.

Two for dinner, no reservations, Living Social coupon, seated immediately. Chris, our server, delightful and friendly at first. Cocktail and salad tasty as usual. When our dinner was placed on a nearby service tray, Chris the server passed it by at least twice before serving us. (We were no more than 4 feet away.) Food, albeit tepid, was absolutely delicious. After we asked for our bill, we waited at least ten minutes. Meanwhile Christ the server breezed past us at least four times bearing nothing in her hands, thereby seeming to be uninvolved with another table. At no time did she inquire as to our opinion of the food which was (again) totally wonderful. When we use a coupon, our practice is to tip very generously, usually the amount we saved by using said coupon. In this case, a $58 tab would have garnered her a $20 tip. Not too bad as I see it. Instead she got little more than 10%. If I ever return, it will be without a coupon. At Jimmy's, they might just well be the kiss of death.

It took forever to get any service to begin with. The only silver lining was the desert, the main meal was very bland and flavor was non existent. What definitely felt like an eternity to receive a check. The check was incorrect, I asked to be correct and my request was completely ignored. I gave the server the benefit of the doubt and still tipped her the traditional 17% or so. Me and my girl friend will definitely Not be going back. Customer service has been replaced by an elitist attitude and a side of snobbery at this so called classy establishment!
(1)Michelle S.
I adore this place and frequent it often. Jimmy welcomes you into his "home" and treats you like a guest. Dinner has always been great and I highly recommend the Salmon Spinach Salad & Roasted Duck. How can you not love a local establishment with an authentic neighborhood feel? And I highly recommend the live music nights, my fav thus far is the Exclusively Yours band. Keep it up, Jimmy & team!

I came here during Clayton's Restaurant week. $25 for a 3-course meal was a steal! The food was absolutely amazing! I had the flash fried spinach as suggested by other Yelpers and loved it. The texture and taste reminded me of dried seaweed. It was definitely interesting to try vegetables cooked in that way. Tuna tartare was also very delicious. They also have flash fried fettuccine which was very unique to eat. They reminded me of chips and like chips, I couldn't stop eating them! For our main course, I had their smoked duck with sage-roasted fingerling potatoes, spaghetti squash, duck stock demi-glace and raspberry-port compote. Sounds great doesn't it and it tasted great, too. It was cooked to a perfect pink center with all the juiciness still intact. I love duck and theirs was definitely up on my list of duck dishes I've had. My boyfriend had their grilled pork loin with leek hash brown, pancetta wilted spinach and spiced apple reduction. Apple with pork? Mmm..it was soo good. Overall, the service was great, the food was a pleasant surprise and the ambiance was very homey. My boyfriend and I agreed that this restaurant is the best restaurant we've been to so far in St. Louis. Sadly, Tony's downtown didn't win our hearts the way it did for others. I'll definitely be back!

The first time I came to Jimmy's on the park I was enchanted. I loved everything about it! The atmosphere, the music, the food, and especially the dried noodles on every table! That was 4 years ago. Every time since, it's lost more and more and more appeal to me. And the last time I went was with a group of girlfriends. We had a server that was outrageous and honestly just offensive, and it takes a lot to offend me! The cocktails were terrible. The food has lost it's quality and it's just not worth it to me to spend the money to go to Jimmy's anymore. I think I'm in mourning for what used to be one of my favorite places.
(2)Rex H.
Would have given 5 stars if the food was not so pricey. Service was a little slow, but we were in no hurry so not a big deal. The food was VERY unusual in a great way. Look forward to going back and trying something else.

I went to Jimmy's for a dinner with my peers after work. We are all out of town and randomly picked this place. I am " a foodie" from Los Angeles, and this place is up there with the best of them...very nice décor and ambient atmosphere. The owner was there to give the personal touch to our experience. The food itself was delicious. We had 6 people with very different taste buds and everyone was very happy with their dinner. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends. I'm sure we will be back during out 3 months engagement here in St. Louis.

Enjoyed the Jimmy's experience from beginning to end. As soon as you enter DeMun, you remember that even though this area is smaller and more tucked away than many great Lou neighborhoods, it is a gem. The park across the street is so picturesque and the street view is charming, so dine al fresco if the weather permits. I just went last weekend, so a little chilly and dark for outdoors, but we cozied up to the bar instead. The bartender, a woman who has been for there for many years, was friendly as always and helped us choose a great red wine. The garlic bread sticks (dried pasta?) are a delicious starter snack. I like that they do serve regular bread service as well, but that they ask if you want it instead of either automatically placing it at the table or having the customer request it. Of course, we had to start with the flash fried spinach, a Jimmy's tradition. It seems a bit downsized from years past, and they have either taken away or forgotten the fresh lemon that is so yummy to drizzle over the top, but still heavenly! I tried a dish that has always jumped out at me, the entree steak salad, and it was fantastic! Fresh greens, perfectly cooked steak (and a lot of it!), potatoes, asparagus, tomatoes, red onion, and a light but flavorful vinaigrette. I ate about half- so that is saying something about the size being that it's a salad and we started with spinach! I have thought about that salad every day for a week and I do not daydream about salad, ever. Topped of the meal with so-so Sambouca. Not great quality and it burned instead of being sweet and smooth. I will be back for some spring patio hopping up and down the street!

This is our favorite place to eat in St. Louis. The owner and his staff are very professional and the food is amazing. You pay for what you get. If you want cheap then go to Applebee's this is artwork in food form.

Jimmy never disappoints! This restaurant is one of the best secrets in St. Louis. Everything on the menu is fabulous and perfectly prepared.
(5)Joe B.
There are some places that simply ooze class from the very walls and fixtures. There are some places that you can't help but make a mental note "bring a date here!" There are some places that are absolutely superb...when someone else is paying. Jimmy's is, at least, all of the above. I've been to classy joints before, but what makes Jimmy's stand out is the indoor fire-contraptions; part fireplace, part fire pit, all awesome.
(3)Jon C.
This is a neat place for a date. Solid menu. Good lighting, tasteful but decorative interiors. Open dining room concept, but not too loud. Meal: Bruschetta Baked Chicken Linguini Bread pudding Bruchetta was nicely toasted and tasty, but very messy. The baked chicken pasta was very flavorful. Ate the whole thing. Bread pudding is quite good. Love the raspberry cream sauce. Overall, I had a very good experience. Will likely return. -jc

I'm surprised that Jimmy's is only averaging 3.5 stars at the moment. I wouldn't say it's my absolute favorite place in St. Louis (though it could well be), but I can't for the life of me think of anything to dock it a star for. First the drinks: their Martinis are absolutely wonderful, and happy hour makes them affordable ($5). You can choose from heavy, cream-based cocktails and thinner ones such as Apple Melon, which is my personal favorite. Happy hour is generally a fantastic deal here at Jimmy's, since you get some pretty delicious appetizers for half-price: Calamari for $4.50? Spinach and artichoke dip for $3.50?? My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I've never quite been able to understand why this is the case, but if you go in the evening you are generally handed two separate menus, which I think are the dinner and lunch menus, now that I look at their website, though at the time it seems more like dinner and bar food. It's confusing because there isn't a huge price differential between the two (I would have thought the dinner menu would be pricier), so I generally treat them as one long and somewhat overlapping menu. It makes picking your meal a bit less straightforward, but you can't really go wrong - everything I've had here has tasted scrumptious. I'm happy with the atmosphere of this place - if anything it's a little older and a tiny bit on the stuffy side, but often I like to sit on the patio, so it's not an issue. In the winter, I think they have a fireplace, and the place seems really smart without making you feel like you have to spend a hundred bucks. I just noticed Allan C.'s review and this reminded me of one odd feature - as Allan mentions, the silverware is indeed bizarre! It does curve in a very odd way, which I personally find curious rather than uncomfortable because I'm not a lefty, but I feel his pain. However, still not enough of a problem to dock a star. This place is great!
(5)Jennifer W.
Fantastic Sunday Jazz brunch. I love this place so much I booked a private party there in the front room. The watermelon martinis keep me coming back for happy hour. The weekday lunch is great place to bring clients for a business lunch.
(5)Mike K.
From the dishes I had, very good, the Margherita Pizza was good and perfect size for one......upscale location....I prefer Saturday night's when they have live jazz.
(3)Allan C.
Service and food is very well executed. I think the atmosphere is what really makes takes this place above the rest with it being an extremely intimate setting in a great neighborhood. But seriously, what is up with your silverware? Being a lefty, I have never encountered silverware that was simply uncomfortable to hold. It was absurd. In my RIGHT hand, it curved nicely into the palm of my hand. In my LEFT, I had to hold it with the handle outward. Are you telling me how to eat, Jimmy? I was irked to the point that I almost wanted to request some other silverware. Either way, they didn't have any particular dish that I was crazy for that I'd visit again just for that, but we will likely visit this place again to bring other people to.
(4)Somalee B.
food is delicious! very chill, yet nice ambiance... not stuffy for the fact that they have very good and well composed food. And their bar has great specials on weekdays

I've been going Jimmy's for years and have great memories there. Never once has this place ever let me down! It's a cute trendy place. Good for dates, birthday celebrations ;), night out w/the girls whatever. Can't say that I've ever seen little kids here and honestly not a place I would bring my 8 year old either but that's only b/c it's a little pricey and there's really nothing there for the little ones. But the food is fantastic. Was there last night w/my bff and we each had a martini ($5 between 4-6:30, you can't beat that) I believe she had the chicken alfredo and this is NOT your typical chicken alfredo either....it's not the white sauce that we're all so used to. But be prepared b/c it's not made w/all white meat either. I tried it and loved the it had spinach, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes. It did have great flavors, but the dark meat taste in my mouth was turn off for me. But, she loved it and ate every bit of it! I had one of their specials for that night. It was an encrusted tuna steak (don't ask me what, she read off about 5 specials, lol), but it came w/an Asian slaw that I thought it was to die for and purple sticky rice. The tuna had amazing flavors but the rice was nothing to brag about but over all the food and the service was fantastic and I can't wait to try the next best thing :D

Jimmy's is typically known by me and my grad-school friends as the Martini Monday place... but, I think their food is better than their martinis. Go next door to Sasha's for wine and drinks... but only after you enjoy a delicious meal at Jimmy's on the Park. They have two menus - one bistro-style menu that is reasonably priced and offers more "comfort food" type dishes and another more formal dining menu that is a little more upscale in price and complexity of dish. The flash fried spinach is a MUST HAVE for an appetizer and their price-fixed menu for 3-courses sunday through thursday for $30 is really good too. Check it out!
(4)Jenny P.
$5 martinis on Mondays? Yes please! This lovely perk was one of the multiple reasons why I enjoyed my date night at Jimmy's. While looking to move into the area, we drove by this little neighborhood restaurant and were quite surprised when we walked inside...it is just beautiful! Modern decor and design, yet very inviting. Is there a fireplace suspended from the ceiling? Why yes there is! The menu has some unique dishes, but also had the usual stuff too. We were a bit confused by the 2 different menus to choose from, but we figured it out. Was the meal one of the best...no, but it most certainly won't keep me from coming back. Our creme bruleed dessert however....YUM! And that is one of their specialties. Overall a classy, new age restaurant that fits right in with the surrounding Clayton atmosphere! P.S. Sasha's wine bar next door looked way cool too. Hope to check it out sometime as well!

Jimmy's On the Park is a great restaurant. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, never having been felt as though I am being rushed out. Jimmy's On the Park provides excellent service and food as well. Each time that I have been there, which has mostly been for Sunday brunch, the food has always been great. With their range in food I sometimes order breakfast and other times I order traditional lunch foods. One of my favorite brunch menu items is their chicken crepe. They are filled with chicken and mushrooms and it has a nice wine lemon cream sauce. All topped with some parmesan cheese. Oh how it is so very fantastic. Just remembering it makes my mouth water again. Besides having wonderful chicken crepes, they also have a great atmosphere to the place. Nice and relaxed with outdoor seating, Jimmy's On the Park makes for an enjoyable brunch. You can either sit indoors or as I like to, outdoors, if the weather is nice or if all the tables have yet to be taken.
(5)Mike T.
My review of Jefferson Avenue Bistro got me thinking about how much I love brunch and more importantly, how much I love early morning mimosas, so I decided to go ahead and review another restaurant that also excels at both of those things. What can I say? Jimmy's On the Park is one of the few places in St. Louis that strikes a solid balance between elegant and stuffy, usually erring much more on the side of the former. And I use that descriptor generally to describe everything from the linen tablecloths to the smooth jazz trios that play in the front room! They have a fabulous chicken crepe that I could imagine eating at any of the three major daily meals but it goes especially well at brunch. Which is really good for me considering that's the only time I've ever visited Jimmy's. They also do a fantastic job of employing the right kind of waiters and waitresses. You know, the kind who aren't too shy to assume you want a refill of your mimosa at 7:45am on Easter morning and go ahead and bring you a second, or third, without even asking. All the while giving you that subliminal eye-contact high-five that says, "I got you, go on with your bad self." To me, Jimmy's On the Park is absolutely the kind of place where I like to find myself on a Sunday morning and if I can manage to get someone else to foot the bill, you just might find me there more often!
(4)Neil B.
I've only had brunch at Jimmy's. The Tenderloin Benedict was serviceable. I'd probably have it again. The bloody marys came from a mix, but it was a decent mix. Butch, our bartender, was probably the highlight of the morning. He's an entertaining guy that really knows how to make you feel like a regular.
(3)Erin P.
I've been to Jimmy's twice: once for happy hour and once for date night. The happy hour is pretty decent: martinis for 5 dollars and half off of appetizers. It's one of the best happy hour deals around Clayton. There are a good number of martinis to choose from and the ones I had (chocolate and some fruity girl drink) were both tasty. I also had the veggie pizza and it was amazing! Probably one of the better pizzas I've had in St. Louis. Date night went very well. Although on the pricey side, the food was delicious and worth the money. Our waiter was competent enough from what I recall. The ambiance was conducive: low lighting, relatively quiet for a Saturday evening. The only thing I wasn't excited about was the two-seater table in the corner that was close enough to the next table we could eavesdrop into other conversations. I hate that...The bathrooms are nifty & clean, but ladies, be careful if you plan on wearing heels. I almost fell on my ass when I slipped on the wood floor. Overall a good experience and I would go back.
(4)Lori C.
This place is very cute. I love the decor, the fire pit in the middle of the room. Nice. The happy hour is from 4:30-6:30 and features 1/2 price appetizers and $5 martinis. Nice. We had pizza. It was pretty good, not spectacular. However, my beef with the place is that we received a gift certificate for $75 and you must use the whole thing at once. I guess it is hard for a small business to carry over amounts, but that seems like a cop out. I have heard brunch is good, so maybe we can grab some friends and use the whole $75. However, it is like a bad return policy in a retail store - probably won't make this place a regular stop.
(3)Charles C.
I recently came to Jimmy's two separate times for drinks. Before I begin, I would like to clearly state that I did not dine here - drinks only. I went to Jimmy's on a Saturday night and was very unimpressed by the music that was playing - it was absolutely terrible. It's a very stuffy atmosphere. The music was so bad (hipster pianist + diva singer w/ bad voice) that we had to leave. The second experience I had was for happy hour. The beer selection was very disappointing. Schlafly products and AB products - there were no hoppy beers available. Overall, this place is very forgettable.
(3)Sarah F.
For the prices, very under parr. Cheesy music (gorgeous smooth jazz vocalist accompanied by a karaoke machine synthesizer back-up) Our cocktail waiter (we didn't make a reservation so we had a 45 minute wait-- our fault, I know) was a bit of a cocky little man. Once at the table, our waitress seemed inexperienced and awkward. Our food was overly salted and very typical. The whole time I sat in the dining room, I was wondering: what do they do with all these fireplaces in the summer time? Put bouquets of flowers in them?
(2)Anna D.
Oooh! I love Jimmy's on the Park!! It's a great place to go for drinks or to catch up with that one friend you haven't seen in forever!! The food does not disappoint! This is a bistro, bar, fine/casual dining destination and music venue all in one!! It serves upscale contemporary American cuisine in a comfort food kind of way. Atmosphere: Outdoor seating is available and the main dining room features a floating fireplace and hundreds of caricatures of local celebs and regular diners. There's also live music at least three days out of the week. Very posh and caz (casual) at the same time. If "The Hills" were filmed in St. Louis, THIS is where Lauren would go to eat with Lo. Food: DELISH and inventive too! For appetizers, I like their spinach and artichoke dip and bruschetta. I haven't tried the crab & mango pizza but maybe I'll save that for next time or you can try it for me and let me know how it is! *wink wink* For their entrees, I like to switch it up every time I go, but their pork tenderloin has never proven me wrong. Extra notes: Sometimes there are long lines there and you may feel rushed while you're dining, but make sure you enjoy the view, sounds, and taste of Jimmy's...esp. if you're dropping $30 on a meal there!!!
(4)Diana D.
Used a groupon while here, and got a lot of food for $40. My husband and I ordered a pizza and a chicken wrap and an appetizer. It was all very good. We sat outside and the restaurant is kind of at the end of the block, so it was quiet and the decor inside looked nice when I went to the bathroom.
(4)Lisa H.
Nice meal, nice atmosphere, if people respect the table proximity. Musicians and neighboring table vied for our attention, when we really wanted to speak to each other. Left for quieter martinis at the Ritz.
(3)Tor B.
Jimmy ain't no James*. (It was a little less sophisticated then I had hoped.) Jimmy's on the Park is in a perfect location to serve a perfect dinner. Alas, the food and wine list both left me wanting for more. Much more. I'll start with the wine list, where I any good 'foodie' would. The selection was both feeble and short. So we were forced to order by the glass instead... (If I can make a suggestion; take the lead from Sasha's next door, serve good wine and the people will come.) We ordered the pork and the salmon from the Chef's Menu. Both sounded wonderful...with so many great ingredients, and seemingly wonderful preparation. I was expecting something spectacular. Then I tasted my first bite. Hmmm....it was a disappointment. Lacking in temperature, along with the flavor and flare the menu had promised only 15 minutes before. We rushed out of Jimmy's as quickly as we could, closing out our evening somewhere else... Come on big boy, you can do so much better. *I write this critique with a hope to inspire some fundamental changes in Jimmy's kitchen and wine buying. Jimbo, you could be great (again?). You're sitting on a fantastic location, with a nice restaurant, which has so much potential.
(2)Bill R.
I went here last night for dinner. I've heard that it's a great idea to have reservations on a Friday night, so I called ahead of time to make sure we had a place to sit. I noticed DeMun (the street Jimmy's is on) wasn't very full and upon entering the restaurant noticed it wasn't very full. I thought that was odd. My name was the only name left on the reservation list for 8:30. I guess my suggestion would be to make later reservations to avoid the crowd. The owner (Jimmy) was actually the person who sat us. I'm not sure if this is common practice or just him filling in for the moment. The mood lighting reminded me of a W Hotel lobby. I didn't feel bad about dropping $100 on dinner. The waitress was really nice, although she didn't really have much of a personality to her. She knew her specials thoroughly and was pretty prompt with service. At no time did I feel rushed. I ordered a bottle of the cheapest riesling, and to my surprise, Jimmy brought it out. Classy. The wine was nice and sweet; just how I like it. It was at this point I noticed the uncooked pasta centerpiece on the table. I couldn't initially tell if it was supposed to be eaten or not, but after watching someone else do it, I tried it. It was completely covered in spices, so it was pretty tangy. I ordered the salmon with a side of spinach and corn molded into a mound. The salmon was full of flavor and the side wasn't bad. I would highly recommend getting the salmon as it was one of the best cuts I've had at a restaurant. It was nice having the owner running around making sure everything was up to speed and even topping off my wine!

Despite beautiful ambiance and good service, this place sucks. Bottom line: food is awful and expensive. This chef is maybe trying to be creative with his dishes and presentation, but it is an utter failure. Ordered angel hair pasta with scallops and mussels. broth was very bland (like garlic water) and scallops were rubbery (frozen or just overcooked?) mussels also like rubber. Mom ordered porcini chicken crap. Tasted like a hot dog... seafood ravioli appetizer was so baffling i can not describe it in words. however one good thing we tasted was the saffron aioli that came with the ravioli. also the crostini sticks sitting on the table were waaaay too salty. 70 dollars down the drain... i will never eat here again.
(1)Ben H.
Solid every time but not spectacular.
(4)Ian R.
Frequented this place when I lived in Clayton. Its a nice atmosphere, that's for sure. Great neighborhood feel. Occasionally I thought the crowd could get a little pretentious. Not old-money pretentious, douchey pretentious. Not the restaurant's fault I suppose. As far as food goes, it is pretty good. I generally stuck to some sort of pork or beef tenderloin and was neither disappointed nor wowed. Always content though. They like big bold flavors. The prices are about right for what you get. If you're going to come here, try to come mid week. It will be a little quieter.
(4)MK D.
Food was not that great. Service was adequate.

The best part about this place is the live music, I think. I came here on a night (I think it was Saturday), and there was a nice jazz musician accompanied by a pianist. Even after dinner, I didn't want to leave. They were THAT good. I've been here twice, and the food was just okay. Not worth the exorbitant amount of money one pays for it, that's for sure. The garnish in the middle (the uncooked pasta) was pretty disgusting to me. Way too salty. I think it's just for decoration. It can't be meant for human consumption...can it? Yuck. My last time there, I ordered the cajun pasta (It was a special that night). It was fabulous; seasoning was perfect. I would definitely get that again. I had the bread pudding for dessert, and it was heavenly. Just heavenly. The service was good. Our waitress seemed pretty vapid, but oh well. The wonderful jazz music made up for any shortcomings in food/service. Next time, I'm just going to come here for cocktails and the amazing music.

A few friends took me to the Jimmy's on the Park Bistro a few months ago. I was delighted by the service, decor, and food, particularly the cajun seafood pasta dish I ordered. I had such a great experience that I recommended Jimmy's to friends and colleagues. I even brought a group of friends there this past weekend. I had called a few days in advance for a 7:00 reservation for 6 people. The host asked if I could make it 6:30 (that was the only clarifying question the host asked). I agreed for the 6:30 reservation. I was just excited about ordering my cajun seafood pasta--the earlier, the better! Four of us showed up right at 6:30, and we were promptly seated on the cafe side of the restaurant. I was happy about that, because there was a band setting up on the bistro side, and I wanted to be able to hear my friends once they started playing. As soon as we were seated, a waiter named Terry immediately greeted us and asked if we wanted cocktails. As a former waiter, I appreciated being greeted right away. But we clearly hadn't had even two seconds to look at the drink menu. My other two friends arrived a few minutes later. We chatted for about five minutes before I realized our waiter hadn't come back. By then we were more than ready for drinks. During this time, I looked at the menu and didn't see my much anticipate cajun seafood pasta. In fact, none of the bistro menu options were on the menu. Terry finally returned a full 15 minutes after he had greeted us. When he walked up, I asked him if we could order off the bistro menu. He said no. I apologetically told him that when I made the reservation, I was given no choice between the cafe and bistro sides of the restaurants. Hence my incorrect assumption that we'd be able to order off the full menu--the menu I'd seen at my previous visit--wherever we were seated. Terry said he'd go check with the manager to see if there were tables available on the bistro side. He came back about five minutes later with the news that we couldn't move over. We were fine with that. Terry didn't quite seem so fine with my request. Everyone at the table observed that he seemed visibly miffed with us. I was disappointed that the host hadn't mentioned the bistro menu stipulation when I called with the reservation, but I wasn't going to hold that against Terry--it wasn't his fault. However, Terry didn't help his case over the hour and a half. Maybe he was overbooked, maybe he just had a bad day...as I said, I've waited tables, and I know it's tough to be "on" every night. But Terry simply seemed to disregard us for the rest of the night. He didn't ask for our order until 7:30. 7:30! Bread and salads soon followed that, which was nice, but why couldn't the bread have arrived much earlier? I'm guessing Jimmy's has a policy that minimizes the amount of bread people eat, so again, not Terry's fault, but that policy needs to be revisited when it takes an hour to take patrons' orders. The food can often be the saving grace for an evening. I shared a pear/walnut salad and really enjoyed it. The crab cakes were also excellent. However, the escolar--one of the specials that night--was overcooked. I couldn't tell if it was actually overcooked or left under the heat lamp for too long...either way, it was dry and stringy. As a rule, I don't send food back at a restaurant unless additional cooking can significantly improve my experience; in this case, it was too late for Jimmy's to do anything. And it really wasn't terrible...it's just that if I spend $28 on a dish (a price that surprised me when I got the bill because Terry didn't list prices when he told us the specials), I want it to make me happy. This dish did not. This review isn't meant to discourage you from going to Jimmy's. I would suggest this: If you go to Jimmy's, make a reservation for the bistro side. At least then you have the choice between the two menus (plus, as said above, the cajun seafood pasta is excellent). And Terry, I know this review has been hard on you. And seriously, I understand--you had a 6-top that seemed promising until you saw six 20-somethings walk in the door (and then ask for the cheaper bistro menu). I'm sure that had an impact on the way you viewed us, hence your disappointing attitude that gave all of us a bad impression of Jimmy's. But I've been there. I've served. I've had many tables where you just know you're not going to get tipped well. In no way is that an excuse for you to give bad service. Those tables are the test of a great server. And you never know when the younger people you're serving actually make a decent amount of money, not to mention three of them being former servers that would have tipped over 20% if we had even gotten decent service (instead we all paid the 18% gratuity included on the bill). You did a great job pre-bussing our table, but man, that was pretty much the only highlight.

YUM! What a fun and tasty slice of heaven! Went with my Sis for lunch and enjoyed wonderful offierings. Veggie burger made with artichoke, spinach and mushrooms, served with homemade warm and crunchy chips. I had a cup of the cream of califlower soup--delish. But since it's not over until it's over, we went for the bread pudding, made with raspberries, sans raisens. We giggled like girls at a sleep-over; the pudding made us giddy. Of course, we meant to snap a pic of the glorious presentation, but it was "one look and dive in" kind of wonderful. Service and ambience are good. This is a great find--highly recommended.

I had high expectations for Jimmy's based on the reviews on here. We had a good time, but it wasn't the "wow" I was thinking it would be. The decor inside inviting and fun with caricatures of local St. Louis famousians. Our server was great and super-personable, explained the menu and specials with real gusto. I know it's a favorite; the flash-fried spinach was an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 but would have liked a little more lemon presence throughout. LoRusso's is better IMHO. The tomato bisque was incredibly tasty. My husband ordered the duck and thought it was fine; I got the beef tenderloin and was most disappointed with this from the evening. I ordered it medium but it tasted dried and not much flavor (also believe it may have been a little over-cooked). The accompanying gnocchi with a gorganzola cream sauce was outstanding; believe it or not, the wilted spinach was the highlight of the meal for me, but it was that good. Tank cooked expertly out of the spinach, and a delightful hint of crunch in the texture. My husband got the granola apple crisp which he was pleased with; I slaved over the decision for "death by chocolate" or german chocolate cake; I got the latter and should have stuck with the former. I also found the GCC to be on the dry side. So it wasn't a bad meal by any stretch; but I was expecting much more in a number of areas, to be quite honest, especially given the price. Oh, and yes, the server was very helpful during the meal, but we also felt that we went longer-than-acceptable stretches with check-backs as the meal went on, waiting for him to return for us to order dessert, get the check, and pick up payment. The service started out great and then seemed to slump as the evening went on, even though the restaurant was not full by any means.

We went to Jimmy's for the first time ever last night having very high expectations due to previous reviews and recommendations from friends. The restaurant itself is beautifully laid out, with a nice bar area that we enjoyed during the wait for our table to open and a nice patio seating area. The alcohol selections were fine, with more than enough variety to suit most needs. If I were only reviewing the bar, this place would have at least 4 stars. Sadly, we also decided to eat at Jimmy's. Being seated at a nice patio table after a short time at the bar, things took a turn for the worse. We sat for ten minutes before our waiter decided that he could grace us with his presence. Without introducing himself or talking about the menu, he went straight to asking for our order. As soon as the last item was ordered he disappeared, only to be seen two more times throughout our dining experience. After what seemed like a longer than normal wait, the waiter came out with all of the food we had ordered, including the two appetizers that we had expected to come before the main course. Without any apology, he put all of the plates on the table, only mumbling something like "I hope you don't mind I brought all of this at once," before he vanished once again without asking if we needed anything else (three empty glasses in need of more beer sitting at our table in plain sight). The food was hit and miss. The calamari was some of the best that we have had in St. Louis, being perfectly prepared and almost melting in the mouth. The tuna tartare was decent, but nothing special. The tenderloin pizza had a really nice flavor, as did the vegetable pizza, but both were brought to the table almost cold, with crust so doughy (on a thin crust pizza?) that we assumed it had been taken out of the oven a few minutes too early. Had the waiter decided to come back to ask how our food was (which he definitely didn't do), we would have not had as much of a problem. Since he was no where to be found, we decided to not eat much of the pizzas, saving it to be heated up properly at home. After we were done eating, we sat around for another seemingly long time waiting for anyone to come and take our plates/offer dessert/bring the check. Sheepishly, another worker came over to clear our table, telling us that she would get our server. After another wait, he came out and threw the check down, waited until we gave him our cards, then went in to run them. Bringing them back, he once again threw the bill on the table and took off, without saying anything. The only problem being he didn't leave any pens. Since he had disappeared completely, I had to go inside to get a pen from the hostess. The bar and the calamari are the only two reasons why Jimmy's is getting a star at all. With the combination of the worst service we have ever experienced and food that was mostly subpar, our high expectations were quashed so low that we will definitely not be giving Jimmy's a second chance.

A great outdoor spot for Sunday brunch and live music. The fireplace inside is hot - only figuratively speaking, of course. Jimmy's used to feel very old boys' club to me, but now it's hip and elegant. Very intriguing menu and lots of dining options. The neighborhood can't be beat. Snuggled up against the sassy Sasha's and cool Kaldi's, this is the perfect balance for those who sit somewhere in the middle. Love the crunchy linguine you get when you sit down!

The second star is only for Martini Monday, where all martinis are $4. We, however, made the mistake of coming back to try the cafe. I don't think I have ever before tipped 15% (I always do at least 20%) but the service was so atrocious here that I felt 15 was generous. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to even acknowledge us. The bread was brought out after the appetizer. The waiter could not be found to refill the water bottle, or attend to anything we needed. The entrees came out at the same time, but it was clear one had been sitting for a long time while the kitchen prepped it. Getting out was a disaster. Finally my fiance just gave the waiter his card without even seeing the bill. The food was just not that great and as expensive as something similar in New York. The calamari was off. Something about it, maybe the breading was too heavy, I'm not sure. The dipping sauces which sounded lovely with not. Saffron aioli was orange mayo (saffron should have colored it a pretty yellow). Roasted red pepper dipping sauce was ketchup flavored with something weird. The pork loin my fiance got was enormous and pretty tasty, though everythign else on the plate was overcooked. My salad was dripping in so much oil that I couldn't eat it. The dressing had no acidic component, just tons and tons of oil. I used the bread to try to sop it up. In the end, I had a pile of oil laden bread and a still soggy salad. We will not be back. I advise you to find another bistro.

White chocolate bread pudding = best dessert ever.

This might have been the worst food I've had in St. Louis and without a doubt the worst risotto I've had in my entire life. I couldn't even call it risotto, it tasted like bland mush scattered with popcorn kernels. By the way, I don't mean worst food in St. Louis at that price point . . . I mean, I would rather eat at Subway. Not just me either . . . Jimmy's has become a kind of conversation starter among many of my friends who've fallen victim to this place, where we describe who had the most disgusting entree. I'm not sure how these guys stay in business . . . never again!

A java encrusted filet....it sounds terrible I know. But I loved it. Lobster Ravoili...java encrusted filet....it was a glorious meal...minus one stay beause its so friggin busy and everything feels a bit rushed. Mind you this review is a bit old.

I thought this place was great. We went for dinner, but first sat in the bar area and had a drink. I like whiskey gingers, and they don't have real ginger ale, but most places don't (I am determined to find a bar in St. Louis that does.) But no matter, I was soaking up the atmosphere, which I will call "cozy contemporary," as it successfully pulls together the homey feeling of wood floors and soft lighting with clean, modern decor. A duo in the corner performed familiar hit songs, providing a pleasant enough soundtrack that wasn't too distracting. I thought dinner was excellent, most especially the gnocchi appetizer, which I highly recommend. I admit I was being a little boring by ordering the chicken, but I wasn't disappointed in the least. Our waiter provided some unexpected amusement by coming over to the table while my date was in the bathroom and asking how it was going (it was a first date.) We discussed the positive attributes of my date, such as his commendable wine selection and his generosity, as evidenced by his liberal tip, which we agreed was a good sign... unless it was really just a bribe to put in a good word with me, right? :)

I've only eaten here for breakfast (kind of a fancier brunch), but I sent my parents here when they were visiting and I was otherwise engaged (aka partaking in an all-day drinking festival at my school). However, I was sure to call them around 10 PM after nearly dying from a terrible case of the hiccups to see how it went. My father, who has very high standards, loved it. They brought their own wine because he wasn't thrilled with the wine list, but said the food was very good and the atmosphere even better - live music on the weekends. (Nothing outrageous... a nice jazz trio or something along those lines.) Good drink list. Good date place.

We visited Jimmy's yesterday for a work outing and I was really impressed. Our group of 10 had reservations at 11:30 and were ushered to a back room and seated quickly. The first thing I noticed about Jimmy's was the atmosphere. Very laid back and cozy especially on this cool day with the fireplaces that they have in the restaurant. I really enjoyed it. Our group started with a couple of appetizers for the table and we went with the flash-fried spinach and the bruschetta. The flash-fired spinach was really amazing. The parmesan cheese as well as the lemon was a nice addition to the crispy spinach. This was the second time that I have had flash-fried spinich and I was really impressed! The bruschetta was alright. I think that is more of a me issue than any issue with the actual food as I just am not that impressed with bruschetta at all. Toasted bread slices with various goods on them just does not excite me no matter where I am dining. For lunch I went with the chicken and artichoke sandwich with fries. I really enjoyed the sandwich as it had a basil mayo along with grilled mushrooms. All the flavors really blended well and it did not disappoint. The fries were good and complimented the sandwich. I really enjoyed the visit to Jimmy's and hopefully will come back again for dinner or brunch. There looks to be some great places on DeMun that need to be checked out!

Those fried pasta sticks on the table were just weird. The bread basket was day old bread I am quite sure of it. My dish came out barely warm but I am going to blame it on the large program party we had. It was tasty and would have been good had it been hot. I am still giving them 3 stars just for the bread pudding we had when we ditched the program and stepped up to the bar for dessert. I will give them another try just to get that bread pudding.

Okay--- So---heres the scoop: Better half and I decided to eat here for lunch the other day because he had a gift certificate he had gotten from work-- We got there around 11:45ish and we were seated promptly- We both ordered beers, and water--- took a few minutes to get our beers-- which i dont understand bc there was no one in there.... We were offered an order of complimentary flash fried spinach--- I really cant even put into words how odd this dish is-- It was weird----and I wouldnt order it if i had to pay for it--and we hardly ate any of it to begin with.....i dont even know really...... Ick....just weird...like something from outter space or something. Seriously. My honey had the chicken salad and he loved it--- he said it was some of the best he's had--however...it DID have TONS of celery-- and I HATE celery..GROSS. but if you happen to like celery then you might possibly like that--- I ordered the strawberry and goat cheese salad that had grilled chicken on it-- it was good.... nothing that stood out to me, but it was good..... We still have money left so we'll be back---other than that, Im not sure--- There are tons of other stellar restraurants around closer to work, but maybe if we are in the area....... The ambiance seemed---uppity--maybe it was just me--- Who knows---just whatever you do, dont order the stuff from outerspace.

My husband and I have eaten here several times and we have NEVER had a bad meal. Last nite we went and each ordered a different entree and split them when it arrived at the table. We started with the southwest shrimp appetizer. It was soo yummy! I ordered the 8oz tenderloin with the wilted spinach and gnocchi....can you say AMAZING?? Hubs ordered scallops that was a new recent addition to the menu. DOUBLE amazing!! Great place!! Only bad thing was we had ordered dirty Martinis and server took away the first ones with a good swallow still in bottom of my glass. Made me sad! Other than that great place for a very good value!!

More like Meh on the Park... Went here for dinner Saturday night and was overall disappointed in the food. I think I was expecting something fabulous but found it was just decent. And the service was... okay. I think the waiter was just going through the motions not really into it, ready to be done with the evening....which is understandable but didn't add to my experience. So on the table they have weird dried pasta-like seasoned breadsticks that taste stale and gross. Perhaps I ate the table decorations. Also, there were surprisingly FEW people here for a Saturday night. I would say the place was less than half full from 7:30 - 9:30. Ordered the pear salad which was decent. The pears were beautifully poached and the rest of the salad was also pretty good. For dinner, I ordered the Chicken with Porcini mushrooms. This was an UMAMI TSUNAMI. The chicken was good if you like the earthy richness of dirt. Not my favorite dish. And speaking of dishes their plates are shaped like a wave. I don't like wave plates...just give me something round. Maybe something square. Hold the waves. Will not be planning any return visits...unless I start craving salty table decorations.

I came here for Clayton Restaurant Week with my boyfriend and a friend of ours. Overall impressions walking in were great. Cozy vibe but still a 'nice' restaurant feel. Our server wasn't very informative or energetic. She seemed very checked out the whole time. However it did not delay our service so I didn't mind. The appetizers were very small but the entrees and dessert portions were much larger. Everything was delicious and we were also able to enjoy the $20 bottles of wine (Tuesday night special). I wouldn't go out of my way to come back unless it's a formal occasion. That's only because the prices were very high. Clayton restaurant week was a great deal to enjoy a great place though!

We went to Jimmy's on a Tuesday night for my wife's birthday dinner. We had a Travelzoo.com coupon - $40 for $80. Dinner was fantastic! Apps and entrees were delicious and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Jimmy actually sat us and gave us a warm welcome to St. Louis. The bayou shrimp was incredible as we're the strip steak and the pan seared duck. I can't wait to go back again! Thanks Jimmy!

I'm less familiar with this part of Clayton. My visit was for lunch on a weekday. Not too crowded, but the use of space helped us feel nicely spread out - even though the tables were close. I'd like to go back for the live music. Comfortable and cool. Clean lines, kinda' classy. Menu for lunch had some nice options. The Tuna Nicosia (sp) looked good. I went with a pulled chicken / artichoke sandwich. Subtle, but tasty. A little dry. Nice place! I was in the front dining area, but some of my colleagues commented on seeing a nice, large dining area - likely for groups.

Love love love this place. The food was to die for, and the service was great, even though it was very crowded. I ordered the smoked duck after reading my friend's review here on Yelp, and sure enough, it was A-MAZING. My bf ordered the steak, and he admitted that it was hands down the best steak ever. I had a bite, and was just speechless. It was cooked to perfection. The menu price is not cheap, but the quality of the food makes it so worth it!

Excellent food. Cozy-upscale atmosphere. Not too crowded. Reasonably priced. I had the duck: The breast was cooked perfectly to my order and tasted fantastic with the sauce. I was initially very excited about the "duck confit tater tots," but they really just tasted like tater tots. I could see little shreds of confit, but it didn't come through in the flavor at all. I also thought the flash-fried spinach was lacking in flavor. Everything else, and I mean everything, was wonderful. Our waiter was helpful, attentive, and very friendly. The pear-salad was a knock-out (literally: those pears back a spicy, boozy punch, but it was just right for me). At first glance, the menu seems pricey, but the portions are decent, and they put a lot of work into the creation and presentation of each dish. We were sorely tempted by the dessert menu, but just couldn't find any room for more food. Perhaps next time--it's a great neighborhood spot, so I'm sure we'll be back.

We stopped by Jimmy's as we have many times before a Muny performance. Our server was rude and angry. Very unprofessional. We waited for an hour for our food and had to leave before we were able to eat it. Our server was never apologetic, she was actually mean to us. I went inside to speak to the manager (who was nice) and our server came up to me, gave a sarcastic wave and told me to "have a nice night". She didn't mean it. The manager did not charge us for our food, (which remember, we didn't eat) but we did have to pay for our drinks which we had to wait forever for. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We ended up eating pretzels and popcorn at the Muny. Not the way we expected our night to go.

Jimmy's deserves a one star upgrade based on the soup I had a couple of weeks ago - seriously. I live on the same street and had a horrible chest cold, and a friend of mine went by to get some chicken noodle, but all they had was tomato bisque. I'll skip the rest of the story and just say this: IF THEY HAVE THE TOMATO BISQUE, GET IT. Yes, all caps. Very serious. It's homemade, just a little chunky, and is so creamy and amazing. I felt so much better after eating it and my taste buds were jumping for joy. Bless you and your soup Jimmy.

There are not too many places that make me smile at just a thought. I discovered Jimmy's a year and a half ago. I liked it then, and I love it now. You will find a vase of fried linguine noodles coated in seasoning salt. It sounds iffy, but MY GOSH is it addictive. I see many reviews of people saying, "They have lost their edge," but if they have lost something it must have been epic before. Their Pre Fixe menu is something to see. It's on Sundays and contains the making of a phenomenal three course meal. The smoked trout appetizer is similar to a lox platter, but with smoked trout instead, which is an exciting change. If you are in the mood for something quicker, you can hit the bar food. The pizzas are so much more than you would have expected for $13. They are large enough to be a meal, and even share between two people with a glass of sweet wine. The wine selection even satisfies the most picky wine critic (me), the olive bread they serve before the meal is delectable. Also the patio seating is comfy and allows for plenty of people watching. That's why this place gets the almighty five stars...well deserved.
